Hey Guys & Gals!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted any new information about the latest goings-on in the studio (and beyond). Well, I’ve got an excuse (although it’ll probably sound pretty weak): during that time we’ve been REALLY FREAKIN’ BUSY! And by busy, I mean we added a bass player and drummer (Rich and Jamey), we re-recorded all the bass and drum parts, touched up all the “little things” that we thought could sound better on the tracks, Ron did a HELLACIOUS job making the production sound AMAZING, we had a brand new photo shoot, got all the tracks off to our online distributor, and the finishing touches are being put on the CD artwork as we speak. So, to tide you over until you’re able to actually buy the album (which, for certain digital download stores will be days, not weeks…or so I’m told), we’ve posted audio clips of ALL 12 TRACKS FROM THE NEW ALBUM. Give ‘em a listen, and let us know what you think! And don’t forget to tell your friends about it… If you’re a fan of current Hard Rock; ’80s Hard Rock, Metal, and Glam; or all things related to Babylon A.D.; I think you’re gonna be pleased.
Wait ’til you hear our latest song, “Warpath.” Killer! Ron is absolutely ON FIRE on this track. Warp-speed riffing, a thunderous beat—this song’s got it all. And the subject matter is not what it appears. But we’ll leave that for another time…
We’re working overtime to get this album finished. I think you’re really gonna like the end result. Here are some comments we’ve received on two of our posted songs.
Foul Mouth Blues
“I love the way the guitars wind around each other like a couple of horny snakes! The vocals are cool and laid back…fits the song perfectly.”
“Guitar tone sounds killer. Riff is very cool. Bass sounds great. Drums sound great. Vocals sound outstanding. This is a fantastic track.”
Torn In Two
“It kicks you from the get go, and doesn’t release it’s hold on you! It has a definite ’80s vibe, but the best music was made then.”
“This song defines hard rock! I LOVE the originality in the vocals and the rhythm guitar is amazing.”
Well, just a quick update from the studio to let you know that music samples went live on the Syrym website this weekend. Check out the Syrym sound, and let us know what you think! You can send us a message on the website, or you can comment here. You can even vote for your favorite Syrym song in our poll on the blog homepage.
As we update the mixes, we’ll keep the samples on the website updated as well, and we’ll add new samples as the songs are completed in the studio. With that said, we finished basic tracking for “Torn In Two” this weekend, and a clip of the song is included on the website.
Until next time…
A few lucky people have heard early mixes of songs for the new Syrym album, and the response has been nothing short of fantastic! If I sound surprised, it’s purely because when you’ve lived with a certain set of songs as long as we have, you simply get used to the way they sound. You don’t have a sense for how someone hearing the songs for the first time is going to react. No one started vomiting, no one had a heartattack, and no one had their hearing completely destroyed by it (yet).
The one common thread in the comments, thus far, is that Ron’s guitar-playing is better than it’s ever been. I can certainly vouch for that. That he’s an absolute monster on this album is an understatement (Ron, I’ll take that payment in small, unmarked bills ).
If you’re one of those who has been spreading the word about Syrym, keep it up. You can’t imagine how much we appreciate the support. And if you haven’t spread the word yet, now’s your chance. We should have song clips posted on our website by the weekend, so everyone will get to hear the killer guitar-playing and killer songs we’ve had under wraps for so long. I can’t wait to turn ‘em loose…
If I could live in the studio I would…..
Let me first start by saying thanks to all the Babylon A.D. fans that have supported us over the years. It’s truly appreciated.
B.A.D. are all still great friends and we try to get out and play every now and then.
It’s so killer to be back recording again and have found a singer in Jeff that has the same amount of enthusiasm and dedication I do for these songs. I’ve always known they were killer but convincing a major label of that is not as easy as it sounds when all they were looking for was the next “hit”. I could fucking care less about that at this point. I just want to lay down some good old fashion guitar rock…nuff said.
To backtrack a little, I’ve had some of these songs/riffs in my arsenal since 1985, some as new as last week. Yes it was a long time coming but last year I decided NOW is time to get them out there.
I’d like to thank Jim Remy for laying some mean vocals down while I was tuning the studio. Great guy, great songwriter and his band “Snapper” is killer too.
I have to give another HUGE shout out the Nikko Daniels. I met him on a guitar related forum and the amazing tones I’ve been able to create are largely based on some info I gleaned from him. Thanks man!
And last but not least a special thanks to Jay Malla. He managed B.A.D. from start to finish. This includes getting us the deal with Arista, fighting for us every step of the way, and breaking up fights on the tour bus…
We should have this thing out by summer so STAY TUNED….
The recording of Foul Mouth Blues went even better than expected, and the riffs absolutely ROCK! The song is just a raw, tough, grind-it-out, heavy blues rocker with lyrics that could be described as evoking the “nightmare” that a bad relationship quickly becomes. For those of you looking for an absolutely crushing track, Foul Mouth Blues definitely doesn’t disappoint.
Well, we’re hitting the studio Saturday to begin recording Foul Mouth Blues, a new track for the album. The guitar riffs alone are enough to make your foul mouth drool.
We’re hoping to start posting some clips of the music we’re working on within the next couple weeks, so be on the lookout for them! You’ll be able to listen to a little bit of cuts like Brokedown, Alive In The Real World, Bring It On (Go Down Fighting—maybe even Foul Mouth Blues!
Also, as soon as we have our music clips up, we’ll be launching our mySpace page as well. All sorts of cool stuff comin’ atcha soon.
Can’t wait to tell you about all the cool things happening with Syrym! We’re in the studio recording our debut album right now, and the tracks are rockin’! I can’t tell you how cool it is to be working with a guitarist as great as Ron Freschi. His tone and style are a perfect match for the music we’re creating, and the sound really does remind me of the first Babylon A.D. album. Big surprise, considering that’s where Ron got his start. Anyway, we’ll keep you updated as we go through the process of recording the album, all the way up until we release it this summer. Bring it on!
